Our Selection Of Best RV Awning Reviews

1. SunWave Awning Fabric Ocean Blue Fade 18'

This is actually replacement fabric for various awnings. The SunWave Awning Fabric Ocean Blue Fade 18' is designed for awnings which are 18 feet in width and is made to be used with A&E, Carter, and CareFree manual awnings.

Review

We know that this is not the actual full awning, but who knows, you might already have one, and just need replacement fabric. If you have an 18 foot wide awning that could use some new fabric, SunWave Awning Fabric is a good choice to go with.

For one, the white and blue color scheme does look nice, and it provides a feeling of cool as well.

In case you are worried about durability, SunWave Awning Fabric is made with high-quality 15 oz. vinyl, so it should be more than tough enough to last for years no matter what you throw its way.

Furthermore, it also comes with a special vinyl weather shield, which helps to make it even more durable, especially when it comes to standing up to moisture like rain and snow. Keep in mind that material is only meant for manually operated awnings that do not have metal covers.

In case you do not like it, or anything goes wrong with it, it does come with a 3-year limited warranty.

Pros

  • Looks nice
  • Durable
  • Weatherproof
  • Great replacement for manual awnings

Cons

  • Will only fit very specific models
  • Not actually a full awning

2. Tentproinc RV Awning Sun Shade

This is a pretty cool option to go with, pun completely intended! Anyway, this is also not technically an awning, but rather a sun shade extension for your existing RV awning.

It’s a really nice addition that helps provide you with a shady and cool area to hang out in by your RV, not to mention that it is very easy to install, and actually quite cost effective too.

Review

The Tentproinc RV Awning Sun Shade is a sun shade extension for your current RV awning. What is nice here is that it is very simple to attach and detach from your awning.

It comes with a special cord that simply slides into the front section of your existing awning mount.

So, simply extend your awning, attach the cord, and then set up the stakes to keep the Tentproinc RV Awning Sun Shade upright.

You can get various sizes to suit your needs, with options ranging up to 9 by 23 feet, so you should be able to find one big or small enough to fit the size of your current awning.

The Tentproinc RV Awning Sun Shade is shown to keep out close to 90% of all UV rays, thus protecting sensitive skin from the sun, providing some shade, and providing for a cool place to hang out as well.

What is also nice about this particular option is that it does a fairly good job at cutting down on wind too, which is good no matter what the temperature is.

One thing that we do need to say about the Tentproinc RV Awning Sun Shade is that it could be a bit more durable. The fabric used here is not going to be able to handle very rough treatment.

Pros

  • Super easy to use, install, and detach
  • Cuts down on sun and wind
  • Comes in various sizes
  • Will fit most standard RV awnings

Cons

  • Material used is not super durable

3. EZ Travel Collection Black RV Awning

Once again, just like the previous option we just looked at, this is also an awning shade extension, not actually an awning itself. Just keep this in mind when you are looking into this product.

It is a sun shade extension that attaches to existing awnings to block out sun and wind.

Review

The EZ Travel Collection Black RV Awning is a 10 foot by 16 foot sun shade extension. As long as the existing awning on your RV is not taller than 10 feet, then this item will work just fine.

The cool thing here is that the EZ Travel Collection Black RV Awning comes with universal awning hooks, so it can actually attach to more or less any awning, no matter the size or brand.

Now, what does need to be said here is that it will take a good few minutes to set it up, as you do have to attach the awning hooks to the awning, and then use the stakes to secure the EZ Travel Collection Black RV Awning into the ground.

It’s not super hard to do, but it will take a bit of time, and in all reality, it is a two-person job. On the other hand, the EZ Travel Collection Black RV Awning does a fantastic job at blocking out UV rays and it helps to keep the wind at bay as well.

Pros

  • Very straightforward
  • Fits virtually all awnings
  • Blocks sun and wind quite well

Cons

  • Takes some effort to set up
  • Is technically not an awning

4. Lippert RV Solera Awning

Now, this is technically the first real and full RV awning on our list today.

It is going to cost you a few hundred dollars at the least, plus installation fees; it is not a cheap option, but with that being said, it is a fully functional RV awning that comes in multiple sizes, works as advertised, and is actually quite durable.

Review

The awning fabric here is all black and should be waterproof. It probably won’t be able to stand up to severe weather, but other than that, it should do just fine.

It will keep out sun, wind, and rain no problem, just not if there is some kind of extreme storm.

We like the highly durable nature, but do keep in mind that the black coloration will absorb quite a bit of sunlight, so it will get quite hot on bright summer days. The hardware is black as well, which is nice, because at least everything matches together neatly.

In terms of the size, the Lippert RV Solera Awning extends out to 50 inches, which is quite impressive, especially seeing as most other awnings cannot go that far.

Moreover, in terms of the width, you can select width options ranging from 5.5 to 16 feet, so it should be able to work for most RVs. Mounting hardware is included as well, but be sure to get the right size with the right specs for your RV.

There is also the fact that you will need at least 2 people to complete the installation; it’s not a one-person job.

Pros

  • Very durable
  • Mostly weatherproof
  • Comes in various sizes
  • Should be compatible with most RVs

Cons

  • Black color absorb a lot of heat
  • Definitely needs 2 people to install

5. Carefree 701508 Black 15' x 8' Drop RV Awning EZ ZipBlocker

Going back to RV awning shade extensions, the Carefree 701508 Black 15' x 8' Drop RV Awning EZ ZipBlocker is a pretty cool choice to go with. Once again, keep in mind that this a shade extension for awnings already installed on your RV, not an awning itself.

However, when it comes to blocking out sunlight, it does a fairly decent job.

Review

We like the Carefree 701508 Black 15' x 8' Drop RV Awning EZ ZipBlocker for a couple of reasons. For one, it does actually come in various sizes ranging from 10 by 7 feet to 19 by 9 feet. In other words, finding one to fit your RV really should not be a problem.

Of course, as mentioned before, this is a sun shade for RV awnings, not an awning itself, so you do already need to have an awning installed on your RV in order to use this item.

That being said, the Carefree 701508 Black 15' x 8' Drop RV Awning EZ ZipBlocker blocks out the sun really well and keeps out a lot of UV rays. At the same time, it also does a decent job at blocking wind.

A big bonus here is that this sun shade is very easy to install and take down. It really should not take more than one person and a few minutes. On the other hand, the material used here is not super durable.

Pros

  • Very easy to set up and take down
  • Good for blocking sun and wind
  • Comes in various sizes

Cons

  • Needs an awning to attach to
  • Not the most durable option around

Conclusion

When it comes down to it, the option we have to recommend here is the Lippert RV Solera Awning, as technically speaking, it is the only 100% full awning on our list today.

With that being said, any of the other 4 options make for really good sun and wind blockers nonetheless.
